What you'll do on a typical day

 

This full-time faculty position is a twelve-month position, requiring a presence on campus with the faculty member’s primary efforts focused on teaching and learning, academic excellence and student success. Primary responsibilities include coordinating all instructional and academic activities within the Radiography Program and supervising curriculum and continuing education course development. The Radiography Program Director/Faculty is also responsible for providing direct supervision of radiography faculty and providing effective instruction of the Radiography curriculum at a reduced course load.  The Radiography Program is scheduled to start in Fall 2025 and is pending SACSCOC approval.

This position reports directly to the Dean of Health Sciences. Davidson-Davie faculty members have the following responsibilities, including but not limited to: 

  • Promote college mission, vision and values

  • Develops an education program to achieve the institution's objectives and to meet the standards established by The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT)

  • Supervises and mentors instructors and adjuncts and guides faculty in the development of the Radiography program’s curriculum design to maintain currency and rigor and to fully implement and evaluate student learning outcomes and overall program outcomes

  • Maintains the structure as well as the daily operation of the program, including organization, administration, periodic review and evaluation, continued development, and effectiveness of program curricula

  • Analyzes, evaluates, revises, and maintains the Radiography program consistent with current Radiography trends, policies, and procedures

  • Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction to maintain currency and rigor and to fully implement and evaluate student learning outcomes and overall program outcomes

  • Devises and directs maintenance of a record system of clinical experience, exits and reentries, grades, and general background information for each student

  • Collaborates with stakeholders to develop and implement admission standards for Radiography students

  • Teach assigned courses at various locations to meet program needs, including, but not limited to day, evening, weekend, and online

  • Ensure that each class session contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currency

  • Evaluate student progress and provide appropriate, timely feedback

  • Provide and/or facilitate quality experiences in the learning environment(s) to meet program needs

  • Develop course syllabi and provide appropriate written information to students concerning course evaluation and criteria

  • Incorporate appropriate instructional technology to enhance student learning 

  • Assist in the evaluation of courses and programs

  • Prepare and submit instructional records, reports and grades established by institutional policy.

  • Participate in professional development to enhance instructional and technical skills

  • Attend appropriate internal and external meetings

  • Assist in student recruitment and retention

  • Maintain accessibility to students, faculty and staff

  • Maintain a high level of sensitivity, understanding, and respect for a diverse academic environment, inclusive of students, faculty, and staff of varying social, economic, cultural, ideological, and ethnic backgrounds.

  • Perform other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College.

 

Your attributes

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Holds, at a minimum, a master’s degree as required by the Joint Review Committee in Radiology Technology (JRCERT).

  • Proficient in curriculum design, evaluation, instruction, and program administration

  • Documents three years’ clinical experience in the professional discipline

  • Documents two years’ experience as an instructor in a JRCERT accredited program

  • Holds current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification and registration, or equivalent, in radiography


Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Community College teaching experience 

  • Experience using a Learning Management System, such as Moodle, to deliver course content

 

Work environment

ADA requirements for this position include critical thinking skills with the ability to process information and exercise good judgment; ease of mobility within the work environment and other areas of campus and College locations; travel between campus locations may be required; and effective use of all forms of communication including use of computers.
