About us

The BID is an nonprofit organization in Uptown Columbus that provides enhance safety, cleanliness, and other services for stakeholders in the district. The BID works to make Uptown Columbus an livable, inviting, prosperous, and perpetually active.

Overview:

Uptown Columbus BID seeks person to lead, direct, plan, organize, and oversee safety and cleaning programs for the district. Responsibilities include hiring, training and managing a 12 member team to address public space issues in the district.

The position will lead and present items to the BID Board of Directors and serve as the primary contact for property owners and merchants. Duties also include coordinating with law enforcement, addressing safety needs, and overseeing remediation of public space deficiencies. Also responsible for monitoring special events and sustaining the Uptown playground, splashpad, and other river assets.

Job Functions:

Lead and direct enhanced cleaning and safety programs for the Uptown district. Hire, train, and manage 12-member ambassador team. Examine services to find efficiencies or improvements and implement changes to address evolving stakeholder needs. Routinely meet with merchants and property owners to identify issues and concerns.

· Responsible for leading and providing monthly updates to the BID Board of Directors.

· Responsible for serving as the primary contact for property and business owners regarding BID services and programs.

· Accountable for the relationship with the Columbus Police Department and Muscogee Sheriff Department to address public safety issues in the district and maximize officer visibility and coverage.

· Is responsible for working with public safety partners to address issues such as shoplifting, vandalism and graffiti, homelessness, and other disruptive behavior.

· Is responsible for identifying and overseeing remediation efforts to address weeds and overgrown vegetation, streetlight outages, broken sidewalks, water leaks, graffiti, and other similar items.

· Responsible for regularly inspecting Uptown’s playground and splash pad to ensure everything is in proper working order. Address damaged or broken equipment with vendors.

· Accountable for directing river management programs including water safety, riverwalk, directional signs, high water alarms, and Waveshaper Island. Identify and implement projects to improve or enhance outdoor amenities.

· Is responsible for assisting merchants to navigate and adhere to various regulations and protocols for on or off-street parking, trash removal, street closures, signs, etc.

· Responsible for monitoring special events in Uptown to ensure a safe and clean setting for attendees and surrounding businesses and residents. Ensure compliance with any City-issued permits for street closures, amplification, vendors, etc.

· Is responsible for directing or participating in task forces to address specific issues such as trash collections, security cameras, landscaping, and similar issues.

· Accountable for pro-actively identifying and addressing any sign of disorder.

Pay: Up to $100,000.00 per year
