This position is designed to allow Hybrid work but will usually require three days on our campus.
The International Crane Foundation (ICF) is a global conservation organization that works in 50+ countries to save the world’s cranes and the flyways and habitats on which they depend. Position Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist supports the mission of the International Crane Foundation (ICF) by providing support for our employees so they can achieve our Mission. Responsibilities include leading the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of the US staff, maintaining employment policies and procedures as they relate to business objectives, check-in and exit interviews, and advising managers on personnel matters. As a steward of our culture the role will inspire, lead, educate, and communicate the values of ICF through sound people management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The position performs these duties on a regular basis. Actual day-to-day assignments may differ.
· Provide support to VP GHR for contract management for international staff, by tracking renewal dates per employee, drafting renewal contracts in a timely manner, and presenting to VP GHR for final approval.
· Provide employee relations support to managers and employees for conflict resolution, performance issues, and the like. Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions and helping resolve work-related issues.
· Manage employee benefit programs, including open enrollment, COBRA events, and all leave policies, including FMLA, workers compensation events, and disability events.
· Ensure ICF is compliant with most current employment laws.
· Provide new employee orientation and on-boarding to foster positive attitudes toward ICF organizational objectives. Using this task to help foster the employee friendly culture amongst national and international staff.
· Responsible for facilitating the ICF performance management process according to schedule and maintaining the records accordingly.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
· Ensure actions are taken by responsible parties for the system set-up for new International employes; IT equipment needed, establishing email accounts, adding pictures to website and SharePoint as appropriate, ordering business cards, nametag, etc.
· Prepare employee separation notices and related documents and conduct both national and international exit interviews (note that international exit documents must be presented to VP GHR for legal compliance review).
· Responsible for responding to unemployment inquires by addressing the web portals and informing Accounts Payable of pending invoices.
· Conduct annual I-9 audits and ensure proper record storage and destruction.
· Conduct monthly reconciliation of benefits related invoices and other departmental expenses and share information with the finance department/accounts payable.
· Champion maintenance of all HR related documents/forms to ensure ICF is utilizing the most current versions of state/federal tax forms, 1-9 forms, job applications, etc.
· Conduct a one-month check-in process with new hires.
· Maintain organizational flowcharts in a timely manner.
· Function as the HR department safety program liaison and serve as a member of the Safety Committee.
· Assist managers in identifying training needs and developing materials and/or find available resources to meet ICF needs.
· Provide supervisor support for intern related matters and assist with intern program enrichment efforts by identifying opportunities and coordinating brown bag events as an example.
· Champion the process of auditing and updating the employee handbook and associated policies on a regular basis by collaborating with VP GHR.
· Partner with Executive Assistant and senior management team to establish company social events gatherings schedule annually, as well as support impromptu opportunities.
· Partner with VP GHR on development of policies for Africa team, provide training on policies, and assist management with administering policies in a consistent manner.
· Secure and maintain international employee personnel files on SharePoint, per standard practices/guidelines.
· File necessary annual reports with respective agencies.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
· Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field.
· 3 or more years’ experience in Human Resources
· The ability to enable staff to succeed.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Professional Human Resource designation PHR or SHRM-CP
· Experience with HRIS systems
· Not-for-profit experience
· Experience working with employee benefits, including benefit interpretation and administration.
· Experience counseling or mentoring employees’ inquiries and sensitive information effectively.

· Quickly, effectively, and continually adapt to changes in work duties, processes, and technologies.

· Ability to operate computer and phones.
· Ability to communicate with fellow staff, applicants, stake holders, visitors, and donors. Communication will include one-to-one, small, and large group communication. Communications need to be in English. Communication means both written and oral communication.
· Ability to work at workstation for 5-7 hours a day.
· The ability to attend meetings held throughout campus.
· Occasionally required to lift and move items up to 20 pounds.
The work environment includes office work. The office environment is clean and climate controlled.
