SUMMARY:
The Partnerships and Student Employment Coordinator is a highly visible role, responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with local employers, community partners, and the public at large to promote Skillpoint’s mission and develop collaborative relationships that benefit the organization. This position will develop industry relationships in order to connect Skillpoint students with employment opportunities. The position will also lead Skillpoint’s resource development work to obtain sustainable funding to support its training programs and special initiatives. The Partnerships and Student Employment Coordinator will also manage Skillpoint’s marketing and social media presence in order to engage with all potential applicants, community partners and employers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Employer Engagement & Connecting Students with Employment Opportunities
- Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Clearly articulate Skillpoint program information to the following stakeholder groups:
o Employer/Industry partners, to support recruitment, student employment, program mentorship
o Community partners, to support recruitment, retention, collaboration, and fundraising
o Media and the general public, to support recruitment, fundraising, publicity, brand awareness, and student employment
- Initiate, develop, and manage external partnerships with employers, media, and other agencies
- Facilitate industry involvement in programs by leading Skillpoint’s mentorship program, which includes coordinating industry speakers, site visits, and other strategies
- Build and maintain an organizational database of employer and media contacts
- Facilitate community and media connections through professional networking, public relations, community relations, public presentations, and other strategies
- Gather regular feedback from employers that hire Skillpoint graduates
- Closely collaborate with Skillpoint’s Student Success Coordinators and Instructors to transition students to work once they graduate from Skillpoint programs
- Identify and assess barriers to employment, and work with students to develop strategies for overcoming these barriers.
- Act as a liaison between students and employer partners to facilitate students’ transition to employment opportunities.
- Monitor and record students’ progress and employment attainment after graduation
- Meet regularly with students to discuss their goals and progress.
- Lead the creation and facilitation of career trainings including (but not limited to) resume workshops, interview skills, job retention, effective work habits, program success, etc.
- Continually follow up with employers who have hired graduates in order to ensure clients are being successful.
- Provide feedback to instructors obtained from employers regarding training.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Qualified applicants will possess:
● Preferred: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university, with 3 - 5 years of professional work experience, preferably in an education, non-profit, fundraising and/or workforce development environment
● 3 - 5 years in a customer and/or client-facing role; experience interacting with company owners and HR representatives strongly preferred
● An outgoing personality eager to connect with relevant employers, community organizations, and potential funders
● A can-do, positive attitude and a very proactive work ethic, willing to help all team members
● Ability to work independently and provide excellent customer service and follow-through with employer partners
● Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of an organization, including senior leadership, mid-level management, team leads, direct reports, instructors, and students
● Proficiency using Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and social media
● An understanding of the skilled trades industries strongly preferred
● Current relationships to employers in the skilled trades industries strongly preferred
● Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and work histories is preferred
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
● Effectively communicate with team members, program students, employers and external stakeholders
● Ability to maintain detailed records, complete necessary paperwork, and meet deadlines
● Must be able to proactively manage a high volume of work requiring minimal supervision
● Excellent verbal, written and visual communication skills, including public speaking, meeting facilitation, and e-communications
● Willingness to learn new skills and work on tasks outside of job description as needed
● Frequent, local travel is required of this position
● Language skills in English and Spanish strongly preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 per year
